Koolman Underbidder on $1m Danehill |
Story courtesy of www.aapracingandsports.com.au
The final day of MM selling on the Gold Coast promised a million dollar lot. And it delivered.
The much-touted Danehill colt from Marigot Bay eclipsed the magic million-dollar mark during this morning's selling.
Sydney Bloodstock Agent Anton Koolman fired the first salvo in the race for the colt opening the fight with a strong $400,000.
Acting on behalf Hong Kong clients, Koolman remained in the fray until the death when Melbourne based agent Mark Pilkington claimed the winning bid of $1.05m.
Koolman, who purchased a full sister to the colt for $275,000 two years earlier, was the underbidder on the colt at $1m.
The Marigot Bay colt is bound for the Lindsay Park stables of Tony McEvoy.
A syndicate is being formed to race the client, which is believed to be headed by David Hayes.
Closely related to champion stallions Storm Cat and Royal Academy, the colt could ultimately be an ideal addition to the Hayes families Colingrove Stud in Victoria. |
