The race meeting at Clairwood in South Africa on Wednesday featured a treble of wins by Australian bred horses including a sensational debut victory for three year-old Danehill Dancer (IRE) colt Demi’s Star.
He broke quickly and was always up near the speed before hitting the front with 400 metres to run and skipping right away to win the 1200 metre maiden by five lengths.
The Charles Laird trained colt has been given plenty of time and looks a great prospect judging by the ease of this first up win.
Demi’s Star was secured by Laird for $720,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
A son of outstanding sire Danehill Dancer (IRE), Demi’s Star is the first foal of Group Two winning Kaapstad mare Piper Star, a three-quarter sister to another fine racemare in Melora, winner of the Group Two Hollindale Cup at the Gold Coast and placed in both the Group One QTC Derby and Oaks.
PIPERS STAR,was purchased by Anton Koolman Bloodstock in foal to Danehill Dancer on behalf of Carl Holt from a New Zealand partnership. |
