  Baby Luck Helped

Warwick Farm trainer Oliver Koolman declared ‘baby luck’ helped Our Jetsetter to victory in the Myer Handicap over 1300m at Rosehill today.

“My wife Karen gave birth to our first child, a daughter we named Riaan on July 3,” Koolman said.

“Baby luck.”

Our Jetsetter has always had her share of talent but a light framed filly, Koolman has been restricted in the number of starts he’s been able to give her in any preparation.

She is also lucky to still be racing after suffering a life threatening injury earlier in her career.

“We thought we were going to lose her,” Koolman said.

“She copped a shoe in the eye one day and it fractured the bone just below the eye.

“There is still a hole there today.”

Ridden by the in-form veteran, Rod Quinn, Our Jetsetter travelled back in the field before zooming up out wide in the straight and surging clear for a dominat victory.

“She has a good turn of foot and got a good track today,” Koolman said.

Our Jetsetter 58kg ($4.40) (R.Quinn) defeated Danz In Paris 56.5kg ($4.80) (N.Rawiller) by three quarters of a length with Asshewaqua 54kg ($8.50) (P.Robl) a long head away in third.

The sectionals: The overall time for the race was 1.18.63 secs and they ran home the final 600 metres in 34.46 secs.

“She was in the right race on the right day. It was all over 600 from home,” said Rod Quinn about Our Jetsetter.

Horse to follow: Our Jetsetter is better than winter mares grade and can win again with a dry track.
