Peking Tom And Shanghai Sally On Target

Peking Tom and his half-sister Shanghai Sally both put in eye catching trial performances on Friday at Warwick Farm for local trainer Oliver Koolman.

Shanghai Sally is a two-year-old by Testa Rossa from Joy Us (by Snippets) and she was having her first trial for her owners the Oliver Koolman Racing Syndicate Pty Ltd, Anton and Marg Koolman,  A Malizis, R Kaljo, C Heckendorf, M Zacharia and Jacks'n'ace Syndicate (F Bosnjak).

The filly was ridden by Rod Quinn and he gave her a fairly easy time of it in the 800m heat.

She jumped on terms and then settled behind the speed.
In the run home she went to the line with Graeme Rogerson's Spuressence (Hugh Bowman).

Gai Waterhouse's Take Heart (Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) from Steal My Love (by Marauding (NZ ))  (Chris Munce) won the heat by a half neck but Shanghai Sally was stretching out nicely in the run home, under a hold by Quinn.

Spuressence (Flying Spur from Rustessence (by Rustic Amber (IRE)) made up plenty of ground in the straight and her finish was a sound effort.

They ran 48.05 for the journey the final 600m in 35.80 and the last 200m in 12.81.

Peking Tom (Larry Cassidy) headed out in an Open 800m heat and flashed home to run second a head behind Ross Simpson's  Bipolar (Michael McDuff).
Guy Walter's Lantwin (George Scimone) ran third a further short head away.

Peking Tom had been settled off the pace but once Cassidy switched him off heels he really let down in the last 150m.

They ran a quick time of 47.16, the final 400m in 24.90 and the last 200m in 12.52.

Peking Tom is by Coronation Day from Joy Us (by Snippets) and has already won two and placed second on three occasions from only five starts for owners Anton and Marg Koolman..

The four-year-old has plenty of ability and has improved each time he's raced.

He's had a decent break since his last start second to Mindreader over 1400m at Rosehill back in July and is well on the way to resume in the New Year and head back to the winner's stall once again.
