New O'Reilly colt settling in to the Farm

Oliver Koolman
has acquired a well bred two-year-old from New Zealand with the O'Reilly youngster settling in well to his new surroundings.

"You can tell he's been used to farm work, he loves working around the tracks out the back of Warwick Farm but the race track is definitely a bit new to him!

"He's already won a barrier trial over 800m in New Zealand last December though, so he has got some race education already.

"He's bred to run a mile and a half too, so to know he has won a trial over such an unsuitable distance at an early performance, proves he's got a fair bit of natural ability."

The, as yet unamed, colt is by O'Reilly (by Last Tycoon from Coutza) from the Bart Cummings bred mare Gilded Saint (by St Hilarion from Gilding).

Gilding is the dam of the 2000 Listed Winter Quality Cup winner Recall and St Hilarion has sired the winners of numerous stakes races including Group I AJC Metropolitan Handicap winner In Joyment and Group I WRC Thorndon Mile winner Silver Chalice.

His stakes winners Filberto; Foromor; King Eros; Mac Robert; Native Jazz; Orchido; Our Mess; Paddy Maloney and the previously mentioned Silver Chalice and In Joyment (also an Anton Koolman purchase as a tried horse) have won 18 Group and Listed races since 1993.
