Royal Circle - Winner of the 2002 Listed Underwood Cup
Very infrequently does a horse come along that is capable of standing up to long preparations, regularly mixing with a good grade of Saturday Sydney gallopers, week-in and week-out for seasons on end. For Oliver Koolman Racing Stables, this horse for the past few years has been the stakes winning Palace Music gelding, Royal Circle .
Sadly during the week, Royal Circle passed away in a freak paddock accident and will be dearly missed by loyal owners Ann Pickering and Gayridge Investments (Jaffee family) and everyone associated with our stable.
Royal Circle had recently hit a purple patch of form at the bright old age of 7, winning the Gosford Cup Prelude prior to running a super race when runner up to promising stayer Itemise, in the Listed 2400m Winter Cup at Rosehill Gardens. Royal Circle then went on to be beaten only 4.5lengths in a strong Group 3 Grafton Cup at his latest start.
Royal Circle was stakes placed and a Listed Winner, amassing a healthy $208,150 in prizemoney for connections, with 5 wins and 14 placings from his 47 starts.
His efforts in training and on the racetrack, and his independant nature at home in his box will never be forgotten... |
