Former Hong Kong galloper Hidden Dragon went out in an exhibition gallop at Canterbury on Wednesday afternoon and put in some solid work for trainer Oliver Koolman.
Ridden by Larry Cassidy, the five-year-old son of Danehill, trotted off to the home corner before turning around and setting off to work around the course.
The stallion then went at three-quarter pace from the 1000m clocking 1.01.05 for the journey and after being clicked up by Cassidy, ran home the final 600m in a smart 34.48.
"That was good, he's a very genuine horse and can work well on his own," said Koolman.
"He'll go to Brisbane next week and run in the BTC Cup (1200m) on Saturday April 30 and then back-up a week later over 1400m at Eagle Farm.
"We won't go to the Doomben 10,000 with him, rather he'll run a week before the Stradbroke ($1 Million Group I Stradbroke Handicap (1400m)) and then back-up in that race.
"He's a real gross doing type of horse and is thriving on work, but you can't keep punishing him!
"Because of the programming in Hong Kong his former trainer Tony Cruz couldn't back him up but we can here, in fact they encourage it here.
"I spoke to Tony in the week and he agrees that the horse would easily handle the pressure."
Unfortunately due to existing commitmments, jockey Larry Cassidy will not be able to ride Hidden Dragon next week in Brisbane, so Olly is on the lookout for a rider for the impressive galloper.
Hidden Dragon by Danehill from Ballroom Babe, has an imposing record with six wins and seven placings from only 16 starts.
He's earned over $1.5 million in prize money with wins that have ranged from 1000m up to 1400m.
