Peniki Park is home for Harry
There are not many strappers out there who have bred and raced their own horse, but Harry Fowles is one.
He's the proud owner of promising four-year-old mare Peniki Park who stepped up from Provincial company to win the $37,700 Meriton Serviced Apartments handicap (1400m) at Randwick this afternoon.

Fowles, a well known identity around Warwick Farm where he has worked for twenty years, was adamant the mare would win today.

"He was like 'Big Kev', he was so excited this morning," said trainer Oliver Koolman.
"I had to back her on that basis alone, he was so sure she would win!

"We do very little with her on the track, she mainly swims, we keep her gallops for race day.
"Harry wants to go to Brisbane but I think it would be better if she stays here.

"We race for $60,000 here and it's $50,000 in Brisbane and all the better horses have headed up there at  this time of year.

"Harry started working for us about a month ago and we have had this horse for three starts. She's won two and ran third on the other occasion.

"I'm not sure who is working for who at the moment, I guess he'll let me know what time he wants me to start work in the morning!
"It's great for him though it really is.

"He's so well known at Warwick Farm I can tell you that phone won't stop ringing tonight!"

Jockey Larry Cassidy had the mare four wide with no cover in the run from barrier number 10 and as she rounded for home, her inexperience was evident.

"She's so green still," said Cassidy.
"She's very genuine but she still doesn't know what she is doing out there."

Cassidy tried to balance her up as they straightened for home and was kind to her in the run giving her just four taps with the whip.

She proved she was all race horse though and lengthened stride in the last 200m, to win by a length from Rebridled with Audacious Amber a length and a quarter back in third spot.

"I don't really know where she runs next. She's stepped up to city and a half company, it being a Public Holiday, so I guess we can look at Saturday city company for her now!

"Anzac Day has been very good to us, we've trained a winner on this day for the last three years, so she's kept the tradition going."

Peniki Park is by Sky Chase from Off The Perch and has started on only eight occasions for two wins and two minor placings.

"Harry is a real horseman and he has just taken his time with her, that's why she hasn't had too many starts," added Koolman.
