As you're reading this story I hope you are one of those who committed to memory the names of the three horses mentioned in the "Three to follow" story on this site. Peniki Park, known as Sky around the stable, being by Saintly's sire Sky Chase, won on Saturday at the juicy odds of $12.60 the win and $3.10 the place. Jay Ford had her settled in a midfield position after jumping well from a favourable barrier, travelling sweetly on straightening with a gear-change up his sleeve. Jay peeled Sky off the fence to get around the tiring leaders to find himself in front with 300m left to run. Being a mare who prefers to be running down her opposition it wasn't quite the right time to be hitting the front, but she held off the challenge of the race favourite Sky Right to collect the $39,000 winners cheque. Peniki Park will now contest the Listed "Belle Of The Turf", run on Sunday 16/10 at Gosford, a quality handicap for mares. We are hoping for a bit of rain to enhance our chances and hinder some of the better mares in the race.
If you are now interested in following up on the other two horses mentioned in the "Three To Follow" you missed Tolo at each way odds running second in an unsuitably run race today at Warwick Farm. He will take a power of beating in his next assignment, a 1500m Class 3 race run at Rosehill on 22/10. The third, Our Jetsetter is set for a 1300m 3yo fillies maiden at Randwick on November 1, that's Melbourne Cup Day.
I also suggest stable followers keep a close eye on the progress of All About Bill who had his first raceday experience today at Warwick Farm. His immediate goal is a 1600m 3yo maiden, once again on Melbourne Cup Day, at Randwick, but in six months from now he could be flying the Maroon and White flag much higher. |
