The "Silent Prayer" who broke the drought
It took our own "Silent Prayer" to break our most recent run of placing's, not that we are complaining with 7 third-placegetters of our most recent 9 runners, it beats running fourth.
Only a win could have made up for the shocking mid race interference which cost Silent Prayer a win at 30/1 when running third a week ago at Kembla Grange.Terry Jones made a "good thing" of Silent Prayer this time, keeping him out in the open (3 deep without cover) for the entire trip, to win by a long neck in a 1400m 2yo maiden at Newcastle earlier today.
Silent Prayer (Towkay x Cooininee) was breed, sold and recommended to us by Sam Williams of Little Avondale Stud (New Zealand) at the Inglis Classic yearling sales in January 05 and is from a full sister to Hong Kong Derby winner Centalong the winner of 10 races ranging from 1000m to 1800m.
Silent Prayer is not the most natural of 2yo's and his win was on raw ability judging by his obvious lack of maturity. Albeit he is within 10 days of being a 3yo he will improve quite considerably with age.
No immediate race plan for Silent Prayer is set in concrete until he is allowed time to recover from two fine performances in the space of a week both on very heavy tracks.
A special congratulations to the Illes Family who own Silent Prayer and got to see their own colours in the winners circle for the first time.
