Just as the racing season began in August, when we had a fruitful month training 4 city winners, so has our calendar year began, with 3 winners already and a very good chance of extending that before the end of January.
"Our Jetsetter" has done a great job flying the flag, after her impressive win on New Years Day she was kind enough to win for us again this past Saturday at Rosehill, only this time too kind, she shared the win by way of a dead-heat. Initially we were all full of praise for her galant effort to carry 57kg and gallop home to run 2nd, when the judge declared a dead-heat we were very pleasantly surprised, and full of even more compliments for our beautiful mare.
"Sharing is caring" so they say, but only when 2nd prize was the other option, if it were the other way around and I had thought we won, then I would not have been quite so willing to share the finish. I must say, I did have a quick look at the head-on footage while the judge was taking so long to put the placings up in the frame, just to see if she had been inconvenienced at all ....... even a wee bit !!!
That is all done and dusted now, and it is on with the next goal for "The Jet", we now tackle Class 6 and she has felt that run under the big weight so we will give her time to recover fully before we take the next step.
While we were splitting hairs at Rosehill it was a different story at Kembla Grange, Karen was celebrating with others the "Shanghai Sally" win. Sally wasn't going to share that win with anyone and put a 3 length gap in the field over the final 200m. Sally "put the writing on the wall" last start with a good 2nd at Gosford with the blinkers on for the first time. I say put the "writing on the wall", but this time she put it in bold with Saturday's win that there are more wins ahead as she strode clear stopping the clock in 1.09.66 for the 1200m. |
